Founder, Anton Pretorius says,

My value system drives me in my personal and my business relationships. It is grounded in passion, excellence, respect, trust and integrity. I try to lead by example, think before I speak, not take everything personally, ask before assuming and always do my best.

I have close on 25 years of business experience in a diverse range of disciplines and industries. After completing articles with PWC in Paarl, I cut my teeth at Sappi starting as trainee accountant in the cost office and progressed to the Southern Africa Financial Directors Committee. This journey gave me vast experience in general management ranging from finance and admin to information technology, logistics and inventory management. Working in a blue-chip environment taught me the value of discipline and reporting as well as the dangers of hours of nonsensical forecasting and slide tweaking.

I joined Natie Kirsh in Swaziland as CFO of his investment corporation in 2002. Here, I served on several boards of multi-national companies as their local representative as well as managed operations in the motor trade, agriculture, FMCG distribution and property management. This was a time of significant growth for me as I had to act as a sounding board, give independent opinions as well as be hands-on in sorting out problems.

I am a founding member of the Nusolar Group and was MD of SDA, CFO and rotated as CEO. The group operated in the renewables sector – primarily in solar water heating. The business won significant tenders with Eskom on a national basis as well as with the City of Cape Town. I gained invaluable experience starting up a number of companies and rolling with the punches and took the company to level 1 BBBEE status as well as ISO9001 compliance.

I am enthusiastic about learning and about life, about making the most of every day, every relationship and every opportunity. I believe balance is essential to a happy life and I work hard to give time and energy to my family (beaching, braaing and playing), to myself (reading, learning, surfing, biking) and to work (growing, teaching, evolving). I try to stay healthy and fit, though I do love red wine and I’m unashamedly addicted to dark chocolate. I’m certainly the biggest Pink Floyd fan in my home.
I have been involved in mentoring and coaching since 1999, in-house consulting since 2002 and external engagements since 2014.  The spectrum of work performed includes the incubation and formation of new businesses at grassroots level utilising anything from seed capital funding, business oversight and improvement projects at executive level, ad hoc consulting to multi-nationals companies, as well as mentoring and developing direct reportees to being appointed as inter alia General Managers and Chief Executive Officers of major establishments.

Apart from the commercial work that I perform, and as a result of my involvement in the renewables sector, I am registered with The Innovation Hub, the Climate Innovation Centre and the South African Renewable Business Incubator (SAREBI) as a business consultant and with the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation as a mentor.
